DeJohnette, Coltrane and Garrison will put you “In Movement”

When we put together great musicians there is no doubt that the product will be flawless. Drummer and jazz legend Jack DeJohnette, saxophonist Ravi Coltrane and bassist (and electronics whiz) Matthew Garrison team up for the new album “In Movement”. “In Movement” was released on May 6, 2016 by ECM Records, and it has and it has 8 soulful tracks.

The opening song is “Alabama,” John Coltrane’s mournful hymn, and later hits peak intensity with “Rashied,” a tribute to his last drummer, Rashied Ali. If you are a more keyboard person then “Blue in Green” includes some fine piano work from DeJohnette, a talent for which he’s often under-recognized. “Two Jimmys” is a joint tribute to Garrison’s father as well as Jimi Hendrix. The trio showcases its collective prowess in the long title track “In Movement”. The song that will get you up is the Earth, Wind and Fire cover “Serpentine Fire,” this song has the quality that is proven by the artists.
We can conclude that “In Movement” is an album made my professionals and legends. Every song has it’s own reason why you should listen to it. So hurry up and find yours!
